February 23 – 25, 2018: Row, Row, Row! It’s the 9th Annual Sarasota Invitational Regatta rowing competition and the start of the Sprint Season. There will be over 1,500 rowers in Youth, Masters and Adaptive Rowing from the southeastern United States who will compete in the two day event. Racing is from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. March 7 – 10, 2018: The Jazz Club of Sarasota, one of the most active jazz societies in the nation, will present “A World of Jazz” for its 38th Annual Sarasota Jazz Festival. This year’s Fest,one of the sun coast’s most looked forward to events of the year, will feature 14 musicians from seven nations in four concerts, over a dozen locally based musicians for a Pub Crawl by Trolley, and the French art film Django. In addition, at one of the concerts the Club will present its highest honor, the Satchmo Award, to a musician for “unique and enduring contribution to the living history of jazz.” Festival activities will be presented in various Sarasota venues including Marriott’s new Art Ovation Hotel, downtown Sarasota night clubs and Burns Court Cinema. A last-minute change in location for four major concerts, the Sarasota Jazz Festival will return to its home of recent years, Riverview Performing Arts Center, at Riverview High School, 1 Ram Way, Sarasota, for the four concerts. The locations and schedules for the other two festival events, the Pub Crawl by Trolley and the screening of the film Django remain unchanged. March 8 – 11, 2018: It’s the return of Sarasota Balloon Festival with dozens of hot air balloons taking to the skies and performing spectacular night glows each evening. March 8 – 18, 2018: The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee Presents The 2018 Naiditch Family Foundation 9th annual Jewish Film Festival. The film festival features 12 celebrated feature films that highlight Israel and includes the southwest Florida premiere of the documentary Ben-Gurion, Epilogue. The annual festival celebrates Israeli life, history and culture. In response to last years unprecedented attendance, organizers have added more matinee and evening screenings, most of which are at Regal Hollywood 20, 1993 Main Street, Sarasota. The festival kicks off on Thursday, March 8, 7 p.m., with the Opening Night Celebration showcasing the southwest Florida premiere of Ben-Gurion, Epilogue, an intimate interview with Israel’s founding prime minister, filmed nearly 50 years ago.
